There will also be various forms of musical & other types of entertainment. For example on opening night we featured 2011 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, singer, songwriter & guitarist John Kaye. Also, every Friday, weather permitting, the SuperSTEM Academy, a project of the California Space Enterprise Center will be hosting a special star gazing telescope party for our communities’ families to enjoy viewing our wondrous solar system and universe. The SuperSTEM Academy will be bringing out experts to help assist our explorers in using telescopes more effectively, along with stimulating physics and astronomy discussions, join us as we explore infinity. We encourage anyone that has a telescope to bring theirs to the party as well.
The year-round “From the Roots to the Stars” market kicked off last Friday afternoon with 11 vendors selling locally made products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, T-shirts, gifts handcrafted from exotic woods, plants and more. As the weeks go on, event organizers expect more vendors to join the event.
“(The theme) is literal because of both the fresh marketplace and the stargazing component, but it also denotes uniting, (which) is really what this farmers’ market is all about,” said Lielle Arad, spokeswoman for Green2Gold, the nonprofit organizing the market. “Each week, families are invited to the special stargazing party, where they can set up their telescopes and enjoy a night looking at the stars.”
